Margin Buying??? That does not borrow the property of someone else property they bought with their hard earned money for the buying on credit whereas the collateral for short selling borrows against someone's holdings they bought with there hard earned money. Of course if they don;t then that is naked shorting and thus literally stealing. DO you see a margin buy trade place on someone's sell positon? No and thus that arguement carries no weight what so ever.

I have been writing about this since 1999 when I had a position of locked up by a short and they could not make my certificate good and I got a depository cert because the short can't cover.

Shorting is stealing from people [property. Not only that but the people who own the stock (benefical) get nothing for this stealing (I am sorry borrowing what is not yours without the person who owns it permission but the broker who is suppose to look out for your best interest loans out your property) for a short to profit.
