We must finally once and for all introduce , support all progressive democratic movements with every amount of "zeal" as the Taliban have tried to implement their totalitarianism.... We can't take over and run their country for them , but if we can pour $100Bil in military weapons, ordinance, training into the Middle East , the least we can try to do now in Afghanistan & the region, is to set up some kind of Marshall Plan for it's restructuring and rebuilding and stability in the region. And give the entire Muslim world an example of the benefits of working with the west . Unfortunately in the past with certain regimes we set up , they were less than perfect. but the cold war with Russia bent the lens of our perception badly ...and their's. Now we have an oportunity with Russia "de-revolutionized", of a tremendous opportunity to bring a stability to an entire forgotten & depressed region of the world and Russia , while creating an example of the benefits of for any people to learn to participate and bid to be included in the family of nations global world system. The power of the Clerics and Ayatollahs is on the wane, this is a war between the modern and older religious fundamentalist warring factions going too far back. We need to identify and support all progressive groups within each of these de-evolutionary branches/ethnicities within Islam. Some good reads on background here :findarticles.com ** Again , we should find , identify and support all progressive( democratic) movements that exist , & find those great statesman visionaries and thinkers emerging within these societies and offer support....it's time.
