I think it was actually the housing numbers that goosed the market. Existing home sales were strong last month.

Any economic numbers for September won't mean squat. We all know they will be down hard, even if it is just because spending and productivity essentially stopped for nearly a week. It will be interesting to see how all the talking heads handle this. Am sure we will see a plethora of "economic guests" on TV who have absolutely no common sense about all of this.
