Below is a post I had taken from another board that talks of a security product potential that INSP kept hold of when it sold Locus properties back to a private concern. Other things that I read about concerning the new mobile advertising, paperless promotions, and geographical marketing lends itself to identifying locations. It may be the case where INSP has been asked to develop a security product based on voice authentication and/or location identification. ******************************** More postings from the previous poster. Question was asked about some of the voice applications possible... ************************ There are so many i could not list them all: (Questoin was asked about the uses of the Locus technology that INSP still retained.) ASR: Any VoiceXML web site for transaction purpose: airline/car/ hotel reservation and verification, stock transaction, voice dialing, conference room reservation, directory assistance, Unified Messaging navigation and interaction, etc. Authentification: voice biometry instead of password or keys for a multitude of applications (security range from 95 to 99.99%). Since you know which template to compare it to, you can have billions of template in a database. speaker identification: you can identify the speaker on a line within a few minutes with a sample of only 60 seconds of his voice!! this is what police organization and secret services are after. Since you want to match a voice template to a speaker, then the technology usually can only support a few thousand persons in their database to identify. It is important to note that voice biometry is possible with or without customer knowing it! all you need is about 30 to 60 continuous seconds of recording of their voice to generate templates to be used in either above techno. The potential of speech technology mixed with Infospace offering is HUGE.. just need time to commercialize it and generate the appropriate alliances and revenues.. then the stock will hopefully go back up!
