That fellow learning how to steer planes in MInnesota. Well, with our old friend Jesse Ventura at the helm over there that was unwise, lol. My hat is off to those instructors in Minneapolis. They were alert and show what can be done by clear-thinking citizens. I was very impressed when I heard that story.

Sweeping new authority for the FBI I find a major mistake. What we do need are some more questions upon entry into the US, and some laws making threats of violence illegal with severe penalties. Finally, visas for foreign citizens are a privilege, not a right. INS simply refuses or revokes them for those who act suspiciously. One important matter to look into is tracking visitors a bit better. In France you must register your passport at every hotel. Maybe that would be wise here in the US also, with some clear laws about how this information may be used, i.e. no selling it to travel agents or using it for other purposes than specifically targeted ones such as the battle against terrorism and the drug trade. Also, I think all passports should be cross-checked with the country of origin to make sure they were not reported stolen and that the info adds up. If it does not, either expel that person, or, better yet, let them roam free - with a hefty "watcher" team tracking their every move on the chance that the one may lead us to the many already in place. This kind of solid surveillance/intelligence work is priceless.
