They replayed an Arthur Kent documentary on PBS last night, and the Northern Alliance was the only group that let him film their settlement freely. From what I can tell they're conservative in their faith, but not a fanatical level. Regards Frank P.

WHO THEY REALLY ARE There will be some culprits for the American public to see, but as I said this is like drilling for oil in Alaska to solve the CA energy crisis. Everything they wanted to sort out is now on the list with an excuse to do it. The general goal seems to be to foster more democratic regimes in the belief that they are unlikely to tolerate the "terrorists". And Iran looks like shaping up as the new Western ally. British foreign minister is there right now. Getting rid of the Taliban is the favor for Iran. On top of that it might reduce the power of fundamentalists in the Pakistan millitary and help maintain security of their nukes. All this of course is (informed) speculation, but "war on terrorism" certainly seems to be a misnomer if anyone thinks the US is just going to go and target "terrorists". I don't see this as one-dimensional for a change. Bush screwed up early on in his campaign by annoying China. Maybe they got their payback in the "spy plane incident". They will also be onside in this alliance network. They'll also be happy with squashing the Taliban and associates. David
