Nicarauga, El Salvador, Costa Rica and other countries had death squads trained by the CIA.

Trying to sanitize the past to make the future more palatable won't work. There's too much of it and fully documented. Most recently, ultra-right paramilitary squads are killing union workers by the dozen in Columbia while the employers,American companies, look the other way. This is not sanctioned by the US govt. of course, but it's a sideshow to our "Drug War."
