There will be no cooperation from the UN. The Bush team's task is to make sure they don't get in the way. Any alliance building will be, as always, outside the UN, since the UN is nothing but a symbol of an obsolete world view dating back to pre-WWII. The UN is a massive failure, because it is based on the invalid theory that there is no significant conflict between nations that diplomacy cannot solve.

The idea Turner stumbled on is great: The US should inform the UN that there will be no more official financial support for that organization, but that they are welcome to drain away any of the Clinton money they can get their hands on. Let Speilberg and Streisand finance the UN. It'll keep them out of our hair...

Well they got the money. They will still be useless except as a cover for actions that have to be taken, should be taken and must be taken. If the UN were worth spit, they would lead the fight against international terrorism, instead of wasting their time arguing that the U.S. owes reparations for slavery, but ignoring the slave trade that is going on in the world today.

UN is a potential source for good, but it has never come close to living up to its promise.
