Many if not most pilots are ex-military. Having them carry a gun, and do it responsibly, is not a big stretch. The pilots union thinks its necessity. It is a common practice on El Al.

I would imagine the fake ID issue could be addressed relatively easily. They'll need to do that regardless.

Still I am pondering however........

The lack of a couple of guns and a hospitality way of doing business was deadly to 7 thousand people. Now I would say that Pilots who fly a plane and are responsible for all the passengers now are very very very likely to be the right hands to have a gun. Afterall the give guns to policemen don't they.
