If I may sir, " the situation of Israel is still just as hopeless as it has always been..."
My take is that it was mainly looking hopeless in the first twenty, make it twenty five years, but not that much since, or nowadays. One of Begins last public speeches : "never again" repeated three times was clear enough a signal addressed to the USSR more than anyone else, and the read it well, even if only they did.
The main problem of the future of Israel is the demographic one (outside of terrorists' WMD possible weapons), and that problem shall not be acute before another generation.
Is it time enough for some to change...?

If you'd asked me about Israel a month ago I'd have said that the United States shouldn't have gotten involved in supporting their obviously hopelessly outnumbered situation. But that was then, this is now. The Israeli situation is still just as hopeless as it always was, but until they finally are defeated they make a useful ally.

Why do you see Israel's position as so hopeless? Who's going to conquer them in your opinion?

Tim

Greetings Carl--If you think Israeli terrorism is "ancient history" then you really do not understand Israeli/Zionist ideology and theology. The radical fundamentalist and Orthodox in Israel have twisted the laws of God to the point
that murder and terrorism are perfectly acceptable political tools to further the Zionist agenda. Israeli terrorism is nothing something of the past, as you imply, but a practice that is used almost daily. Observe the assissinations in Palestine which occur almost every day. Look at the terroristic assassinations of the last ten years! Israeli intelligence has long penetrated the Islamic terrorist cells and has often inspired and used these cells to commit acts of terror that would benefit Israel.

Shahak and Mezvinsky have explored the theme of Jewish fundamentalism and Jewish radicalism in depth in their recent publications: JEWISH FUNDAMENTALISM IN ISRAEL and JEWISH HISTORY, JEWISH RELIGION. Both publication can be bought at amazon.com for a modest fee. In addition to these writings, Michael Hoffman wrote an excellent book on the subject called JUDAISM'S STRANGE GODS. Hoffmann's book can also be bought on amazon.com.
