Dlph...agree for the most part, but there is one small angle there. Marriott and some of the other hotels have taken a big hit, because of the closing of National Airport outside Wash DC, for security reasons. That part wasn't their fault, and had nothing to do with the economic downturn, and is a highly controversial issue with the local politicians, whose constituents are affected to the tune of billions in lost business and jobs, all tied to National Airport. I got the impression from what I read about today's scheduled meeting that the feds wanted to know the extent of financial hurt to the hotels, but I'm not sure about that. As I live close to the incoming flight path over the Potomac River to National Airport, it has been strange at night not to see the lights of plane after plane approaching for a landing and hearing the distant noise. Instead, ever since September 11, we have been treated to the dull roar up above the clouds of jet fighter planes circling around the metro area in defense of the Nation's Capital. The drone is downright spooky, and you can never see the plane. All I can think of is how much fuel these hulkers are burning up 24 hours a day. Wouldn't be surprised if OPEC agreed to cut the price of oil at the request of the U.S. government, just so it could afford to "fight" this "war".
