To both and each of you

As a longtime skeptic and cynic, I find it valuable to examine anything which is reported to be the truth including its appearing on the History Channel, in a book, a documentary, a government agency---national or international-- and now the internet.

For centuries, there have been writings which have been declared to be the official government opinion and then there have been opinions posed by thinkers who have disagreed with the official government or with the official church or religious position. This is a normal process and part of the evolving of society.

We only need to look at our own country----America----to understand how people want to rewrite history. For some rewriters of history no good can be found in the governmental or private actions of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson,or the founder and signers of our Constituion.

Thomas Jefferson has been criticized greatly in the 20th Century by those wanting to rewrite history ----Jefferson was a true renaissance person and one of the most brilliant of our President's. He understood the importance of ideas.

Jefferson referred----"to ideas expanding like fire throughout the world for the good of all mankind". This my friends is freedom imo. Also, IMO Jefferson would applaud the internet and the opportunity for dialogue and debate.

Because of such important and wonderful people as Jefferson this dialogue and debate is carried on FREELY on the net by America Citizens, would-be-citizens, embassies and staff, international media organizations, and guest organizations from other countries, and even terrorist.

It is popular to beat up on our government agencies-----the CIA rarely has been credited with doing any good. The CIA has been a favorite target for the Press and anyone wanting to discredit its mission of intelligence in the world. There have been mistakes made by the CIA-----but to say that the CIA is solely responsible for any other countries difficulties is a gross exaggeration. (Responsibility does begin at home---whether it be Iran, England,Australia, et.)

The History Channel or any other channel which purports to have the truth about any subject may have some of the truth and may have none of the truth. I would agree that if still classified documents have not been released----we cannot know the full truth.

We only need to look at the debacle with Clinton and Arkansas-----many non official documentaries were made to show that about 30 people connected with Clinton had been murdered----and we had more possibles as time went on. Were these documentaries presenting the truth---certainly a lot of people in the USA believe so. On the other hand there are those who were Clinton stalwarts who discredited the documentaries. So what is the truth here?

It will be interesting to see how The History Channel presents Clinton's Presidency----I feel sure that it will be quite different from what an ordinary citizen such as I would write.
