Fyo, Re: "And what about the rumored Micron buyout of AMD? Can anyone imagine Jerry not fighting tooth and nail to prevent it? Regardless, if it came to pass I would sure as heck run for the door. I have even less faith in Micron's management and long term strategies than I do AMD's."

Interesting. I'd have to agree. What does Micron know about running AMD's business? But a better question would be, why would Micron be interested in buying AMD? I'm only interested from the basis of whether there is any potential motives for such a rumor.

"Has MicronPC actually announced that they'll discontinue AMD-based systems? "

About the time that Micron was selling off MicronPC, there was an announcement that they weren't going to be pushing AMD-based machines into the corporate market. Apparently the new owners changed their mind since they give the Millenia Max XP2 billing in all categories. Now what MicronPC hasn't done is have an AMD machine in their ClientPro lineup. Maybe the nForce 220 will get AMD in that lineup...

As far as a buyout of AMD, well, they'll get the company when they pry Jerry's cold, dead fingers off of it...
