Note that prior to the bolded part, Toensing was talking about the waiter. This is not an apologist piece, but we'd better understand why there is not as much surprise in places like Egypt, which I've already criticized as being on a Human Rights warning list. These people live day to day with bombings. The only reason, IMO, why Egypt hasn't had a bigger problem is the constitutional ban on religious-based parties (enforced by the government). Good thing for us, too. Egyptians are the relative MODERATE independents in the Arab world.
