That's a very interesting link, for a few reasons: Schneier, who has a following among some IT security folks, has always dissed biometrics. This is the first time I have seen him say anything supportive of fingerprint biometrics. In that article, he is basically saying that VSNX and VISG identification tech is not useful, but the IDX authentication technology is useful. As usual, he tends to simplify the argument, but he is basically correct here: The FR technology cannot be relied upon to do the basic job it will be asked to do, while the fingerprint applications will work well.
