Market dynamics are most important but not the only factor. I suspect that the Chinese and Koreans will want to push ahead with the investment for other reasons. Remains to be seen whether they will or not. Depends on the attitude and priorities of the Chinese govt, I guess. Samsung will want to gather the battery business onto Korea for economic and political aspects.

Rich,
Stephan has not articulated this aspect to shareholders yet. Is he aware of the pitfalls or is he making optimistic assumptions about the future? By mid November or so, we have the chance to ask him for clarification. Hopefully he announces the design-win that he promised by then. Ram

Unfortunately for a company like VLNC - small, undercapitalized relative to competitors, no well defined distribution channels, and unaccepted technology - time is not on their side. The playing field has become incrementally more difficult for VLNC relative to its competition. It was difficult enough to prevent market success for VLNC when market conditions were benevolent, it is many times more difficult for VLNC now.
