API's out...huge build in gasoline, slight draws in crude and distillate: 5:50pm 09/25/01 API POSTS 1.3 MLN BARREL DROP IN DISTILLATE STOCKS - DJ 5:49pm 09/25/01 API POSTS 256,000 BARREL DROP IN CRUDE STOCKS - DJ 5:50pm 09/25/01 API POSTS 8.7 MLN BARREL RISE IN GASOLINE STOCKS - DJ This tells me two things: 1) Refiners will need to drastically slow down gasoline production, probably dropping their margins further 2) Auto usage WAY down post WTC...if it lasts, bad news for retailers, autos, hotel/motels and integrated oils. Probably net bearish for the oil patch in general.
