LOL. I don't know that they deserve life imprisonment, but I do think they should have longer prison terms than they are getting, and I also think they should be required to pay the back whatever monetary damages they caused. If they can't pay, so what? Just put the dollar amount on them, and they can pay back what they can, for the rest of their lives. No bankruptcy out, no poverty out, just payback forever, until they pay it all back. Take their estates if they leave any, take their lottery winnings if they ever win one, take their inheritances if they get one.

And if they miss a payment? Throw them back in jail for contempt of court.

The ones that do something that cause injury or death because of their actions, should obviously be treated more harshly. ;-)

That would probably put a stop to most of the hackers.
