excellent post, Jurgen... ...I've been plugging into janes.com fwiw MadameGonzo considers American news-shows drivel ~ watches BBC, ITN World News via cable; DieWelt et CanalPlus from raw sat.feed San Francisco will attempt to hold first public anti-War rally this Saturday in Dolores Park; very narrow support... ...interestingly, broader support here for ultra-conservative (Libertarian) movement to preserve Bill of Rights, inhibit "emergency decree" powers of Executive Branch; many ultra-conservatives were already mobilized in effort to end the so-called "War on Drugs" ~ this effort now being re-directed toward this "War on Terrorism". Logical basis still forming/fuzzy but, goes something like this: "we are militarizing simply criminal acts ~ thus, we are either emasculating our military (turning them into virtual, global policemen) or, we are elevating criminals to the status of soldiers, which they do not deserve". Americans still hysteric, indulging themselves in the comfort of Nationalism but, desire for immediate blood-revenge waning as folks fret over endemic job losses and destruction of their retirement/real estate kapital remains TOPIC ONE. --> leaders suggesting that American citizens return to the cocoon of consumerism: "Go out and spend money!" Recent editorial cartoon shows consumer, running around a race-track, holding a credit card in his hand like a baton - closely followed by an employer, carrying a "pink slip" in hs hand, about to over-take him (^_^) ...we can see the large anti-war protests throughout the EU, and we can see that the Zionists have pulled their artillery, armor up to the Palestinian ghettos ~ via your media ~ none of this is being reported in our mainstream media, fwiw.
