Mike. That article points to the long-term issue of the viability of the ASIC industry. Who (or what) will survive, the ASSPs and PLDs or the ASICS. I will be putting my money on the ACIS simply because of the higher degree of intellectual capital in the ASICs and with it the fact that companies such as LSI can more readily incorporate the more complex ASICs with ASSPs and PLD (FPGAs) than via a versa. We shall see, but it is certainly true that the next cycle will clarify this issue.
And this is why I am delighted to see LSI put a greater percentage of its revenue in R&D.

At any rate, LSI is currently selling at about one and one half times sales, which is el gordo mondo dirto cheapurus.
