Telekomunikacja Polska's Largest Central and Eastern European IP Network Grows Using Juniper Networks M-series Routers

New Fast, Intelligent, and Secure IP Services for TP S.A. Customers

Sunnyvale, CA - October 2, 2001, Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure systems, today announced that Telekomunikacja Polska (LSE: TPSA), the Polish PTT, is expanding its Internet infrastructure with Juniper Networks M160 Internet backbone routers. Juniper Networks worldwide distribution partner, Ericsson, won the contract to supply, integrate and support the M160 routers in the TP S.A. network as announced September 6, 2001 by Ericsson.

The TP S.A. IP network, the largest of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, already has M-series routers in POPs in Poland's major cities: Warsaw, Lodz, Cracow, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Katowice, Lublin, Olsztyn, and Poznan. These M160 routers will initially increase core network throughput to 2.5Gbit/s (OC-48/STM-16) and to 10 Gbit/s (OC-192/STM-64) in the future. These core Internet improvements will enable the Polish carrier to begin offering broadband access Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services, as well as providing the platform for a converged multi-service voice, data, and video IP network. End users will immediately benefit from faster, more reliable Internet access, and improved corporate data connectivity.

"The proven innovation, reliability, and performance of the Juniper Networks M-series routers assured us that our POLPAK-T network expansion plans would be best served with additional M-series routers. The new JUNOS software features combined with the packet processing power of the Internet Processor II ASIC deliver numerous service options for our business including a new IP VPN service offering," said Euzebiusz Sowa, Customer Service Director at TP S.A.—POLPAK.

The upgraded network will also provide greater network stability and enable TP S.A. to offer an extended range of services, including MPLS-based IP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), strengthening the carrier's position as the leading IP services provider in Central and Eastern Europe.
