Bayer trades as BAYZY. They are planning to go to the NYSE in February 2002:

BASF is already listed as BF; former Hoechst is now Aventis (AVE) after the merger with RPR. The German Schering (SHR) is a pure pharma co; if you prefer biotech there is Qiagen (QGENF).

Bayer Pharmaceutical Division

Starting Thursday Bayer will be listed on the NYSE. For details see news.bayer.com

On a price/sales basis BAY is much cheaper than US pharmaceutical companies, about 0.75 compared to MRK's 2.9 or PFE's 8.2. If BAY ever manages to approach US-style margins the stock won't stay at the $33 level planned for the NYSE debut.
