America’s Finest Hour

Dan Frisa
Tuesday, September 25, 2001

From the darkest depths of despair and rage has
emerged a rising tide of national pride in America, which
rivals that of the patriotism inspired by our World War II
generation.

While just fourteen days have passed since the worst
tragedy of war sustained by the U.S. in history, we – as a
people – seem to have, in an instant, shirked the cloak
and emerged from the fog that seemed to have
enveloped our spirit, clouded our sense of right and
wrong, and caused us to mindlessly drift and sway to
the whims of moral relativism and situational ethics.

From the acceptance of "political correctness” to
outlandish charges of "racism” where none existed, to
the notion that strength was to be abhorred and
weakness celebrated, American society had become
lost in a sea of psychobabble and misguided
gobbley-gook.

Things that had been considered "corny” and
"unenlightened” are now boldly practiced and preached.

Patriotism has at long last proudly burst forth from its
slumber, with American flags boldly displayed
everywhere on everything. Even the network news
shows now incorporate the flag in their on-screen
graphics.

Public prayer is now widely accepted and openly
welcomed, as are services of every religious faith, as
people seek solace in the Almighty.

Clarity of thought and purpose, as well as the fortitude
to act decisively are now traits to be admired.

In short, America has been shaken to its very core
following the brutal murder of nearly 7,000 people on
September 11th by the butcher bin Laden.

It is all at once sad and, yet, poignant that only in the
face of this horror has such heroism, selflessness and
proud purpose been so broadly unleashed.

This has been thoroughly heartening and inspiring, that
even in the depths of our worst despair such a strong
and positive result could emerge.

Hopefully, as time passes, this new attitude will long
prevail among the public and will replace the previously
accepted fuzzy and phony "feel-good” era of
irresponsibility, which appealed to short-term emotions
but resulted in nothing whatsoever to address real
problems.

Straight talk has replaced lip-biting, honesty has
replaced cynical rhetoric, and thoughtful action has
replaced Renaissance Weekends, all of which
represents a renewed and genuine respect for the
American people.

That’s the way it should be and that’s why this is
America’s finest hour.

"When you read over the body of asenna's posts I say there is a chance he is a traitor," I'll tell you what, I'll go back and read his post more closely, and if it is traitorious sounding, I'll extend my apologies to you.
