I don't think he's whining; in any case he points out some basic truths. It was funny to me to hear Bush talking about the Afghans resisting governments that had supported the Taliban when Bush/Powell gave the Taliban $43 million in April of this year to help fight the farmers growing opium there.... Also, we're up against a wall now, but its quite true that we created/funded/trained our terrorist enemies when we had other enemies..and who knows how our current manueverings will come back to haunt later on. We shouldn't overestimate what we can do in this situation and above all we should protect our home base with heightened security--and should have all along. I received an email this morning pointing out that we spent $100 million and had FBI agents pursuing Clintons' extramarital exploits for YEARS, we should have spent that $ on better things. He actually tried to bomb Bin Laden though he missed him, which was very embarrassing--but he was accused at the time of trying to distract Americans from the all-important issue of his sex life. Italy points out that they heeded a warning in Genoa last July that Bin Laden was planning to assassinate Bush & others while they were gathered there, and they took the warning seriously & had military planes there at the airport and emptied the airspace etc.

We can't get rid of terrorism--perhaps we can stay its hand for now, perhaps not--but we certainly can spend our $ here to protect ourselves. Like for instance our nuclear reactors which are so vulnerable.
