that "snopes" site re Urban Legends is a great place to check out authenticity on the various chain letters and other pleas for "tell everyone about this" on such things as (I'm making the following up) dentists are poisoning you with amalgam fillings, where there's a grain of truth mixed into a whole soup of bs. From time to time Chicken Little emails me with news about the sky and I make a quick check on Urban Legends or Hoaxbusters . hoaxbusters.ciac.org . and tell the individual to check things first AND to write to everyone he/she broadcast to that the information was false and to check things first at that site. Of course that's working against my own economic interests since the flood of exponentially increasing emails that the sky falling increases the need for more fiber-related equipment but sometimes the bs flood is a bit much and that overrides the stock price considerations.
