OT, re : "What's your point? Does America have to achieve perfection before decrying the faults of other societies?" I would think so, if we are to claim ourselves as 'civilized' over and over again (as we have been doing for last several decades). The 'civilized' v/s 'evil' has a tone of extremism (perfection) in it. It not like we are saying 'We are not that great and you are terrible' - which is closer to the truth. More than the words, it our fundamental belief that we are truly good, that I see as an issue. Maui.
