Precise Software Solutions And EMC Corporation Enhance Relationship; EMC Licenses Precise's Technology For Use With EMC's CLARiiON Storage Systems
Precise Continues To Extend Its Application-To-Storage Reach To Include EMC CLARiiON Storage Systems
WESTWOOD, MA--(INTERNET WIRE)--Oct 01, 2001-- Precise Software Solutions (Nasdaq: PRSE - news) today announced that it has extended its highly successful relationship with EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC - news). EMC will license Precise's technology for EMC's CLARiiON information storage systems under EMC's private-label name of ControlCenter Database Tuner for CLARiiON.
The EMC CLARiiON storage product line provides superior information consolidation for highly distributed and midrange storage environments. CLARiiON storage systems extend the EMC E-Infostructure beyond the data center midrange and distributed computing environments for workgroup and departmental applications. DBTuner for CLARiiON optimizes the performance of the application infrastructure - from CLARiiON storage system through the database, operating system, and application, with in-depth analysis of the components to help find, isolate and solve the root causes of application performance degradation before the end-user is affected.

"We are delighted with the continued expansion of our highly successful relationship with EMC," said Andrew Bird, Executive Vice President Marketing, Precise Software Solutions. "Taking this next step with EMC is precisely in line with our strategy of expanding platform and technology coverage, and extending the reach of Precise Application Performance Management solutions into storage subsystems."

The relationship between Precise and EMC was established in 1999, when EMC began reselling Precise's performance management software technology under the Database Tuner name for EMC's Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems. The relationship was further enhanced when Precise joined EMC's E-Infostructure Developers Program in September 2000, which gave Precise additional access to EMC's application programming interfaces (APIs) and technical assistance from EMC's development labs. The first Precise product to leverage this program was Precise/Interpoint(R), which provides customers with ERP performance management solutions, such as SAP R/3(R) and Oracle Applications, for use with DBTuner. "Working with Precise we look forward to offering the same leading-edge software technology for CLARiiON as we have for the Symmetrix environment," said George Mele, EMC Director Software Marketing. "DBTuner for CLARiiON offers CLARiiON customers a great opportunity to benefit from Precise's outstanding performance management solution. While our Symmetrix family extends EMC's value outward from the data center, CLARiiON extends our value upward from distributed and decentralized environments. This agreement enhances our continued commitment to help customers derive higher performance and business value by managing information effectively, giving them faster and easier access to knowledge wherever it may be located, from far-flung networked branch operations to the heart of their IT operation."
