Eric. The SAR rating depends greatly on the antenna locatiom. My understanding was that a flip phone with the external antenna directed away from the head was a much better antenna configuration than others. I also know that Motorola had patents on this flip config and was in a lawsuit with QCOM a couple of years ago to stop QCOM from using the flip design on QCOM produced phones. It seems to me that MOT should be kind enough to release these patents to public domain in the interest of public health.
