Micron's quarter began on Sep 1 so we already have a good insight into what it will look like.

Despite Micron's guff about lowest cost producer etc, it is worth noting that Samsung is making a profit because they have profitable lines (at least at time of last report, maybe they too have turned a loss by now).

If it were a true game of last man standing then the last man would be Samsung, not Micron. In reality, as you say, Hynix will go first, and both Micron and Samsung will live to see the next upturn IMO.

Yes I agree with what you're saying. The issue is of course the matter of timing and risk management, as is always the case in the market.

PS The CompUSA rebate I described has happened at least a dozen times over the past few years. It is one of my indicators on the memory market and their stock prices.
