I spoke to someone who works at XLNX this weekend and asked him to compare them to ALTR, their competitor.

He said that XLNX has not had layoffs while ALTR has done so.

If the recovery comes sooner, then XLNX should have the horsepower to grow faster. IF the recovery is long away, then ALTR will have better "PEG numbers" but currently it looks like XLNX has lower P/S and P/B. ALTR has better cash flow...

I'm thinking of swapping some of my very old HWP shares that still has 70% or so capital gains in it for these two... (XLNX & ALTR) the longer I wait to swap out, the lower the capital gain tax... Nice to record the cap gains this year and then offset with some losses...

I sure didn't think we'd hit your lower buy levels... but 9/11 wasn't a factor in my thinking. Thanks for keeping us posted.
