Yes, I saw that joke...it sorta ranks with a situation which was half-way jokingly referred to by some people a long time ago and has stuck in my mind for more than a year now....that a long-term investment in INTC would have gotten the investor absolutely NOWHERE more than a year ago, and any investor in this stock would be certainly worse off than that today.

Meanwhile, I had made a joke on SI a week or two ago about seeing so many people in the beer/wine cashier line one weekday--probably drinking to forget their stock portfolios. Today's Wash Post contains a story about liquor store sales in DC----UP, UP, UP....since the WTC disaster. Theory is that more people are entertaining themselves at home, rather than at restaurants or hotels.
