Athe end of Q2 the AMD balance sheet shows $1,057 million in cash and equivalents with debt (current and long term) of $975 million.

The picture is actually much better than this. The "debt" figure includes accounts payable, but the cash-on-hand does not include accounts receivable. If you add in the accounts receivable of more than $700M, and consider the fact that inspite of being in dire straights, the major AMD OEMs are not in danger of bankruptcy, you get a much rosier picture...
