Nokia to Enable Multimedia Message Delivery to Non-Multimedia Mobile Phones
September 27, 2001 (TOKYO) -- Nokia Corp. of Finland introduced the Nokia Multimedia Terminal Gateway, an application gateway to enable multimedia message delivery to non-multimedia mobile phones users.

The Multimedia Terminal Gateway, which will complement the earlier Nokia's Artuse MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) Center, will be released mainly to mobile operators in the fourth quarter of 2001.

With this gateway, users of non-multimedia mobile phones will be able to receive multimedia message as a short message notification including the URL address and the password for retrieval of such messages through a Web browser. The users will also enable to send a Web-created message and forward a received multimedia message to an e-mail address.

That independent television production company could
always hire me to hook up a bunch of communicators
with the laptop, write a batch file to split up large files
into smaller ones.

For an extra cost I could even use some open source
version of pkzip at both ends.

If they are nice I could even remember to automatically
disconnect the guaranteed 4x HSCSD connection after the
little time it takes to transfer the files, save them some
cents, with a little java programming, no need for lengthy
BREW approvals.

5-10 communicators for guaranteed 200-400kbps would fit
nicely with the laptop.
