I am more optimistic on the markets now that Powell seems to be winning the battle with the White House superhawaks like Paul Wolfowitz. That means much less chance of an uncontrollable conflagration engulfing much of the Middle East and central Asia.

SI poster Haim Brainstrau hates Powell but I think he is just the kind of voice needed now.
