Doc,
here is a tip...

the october 1 issue of newsweek has a terrific fold out map of afghanistan and the surrounding countries...including base locations and topography.
many of the locations being talked about on tv are depicted on this map. this will make an excellent training aid to follow the geography of current events.

a correct detail that i found interesting is the small picture on the back side of the map of an SF soldier. he has the flash of the 3rd Special Forces group on his green beret. the 3rd is the SF group primarily responsible for unconventional warfare operations in that part of the world. between tours to europe and rvn, i was on an A team in A company, 3rd SFGA in 2nd half of 66 to june 67.

i was impressed that newsweek got that uniform detail correct.

I just got Nitrox certified the last trip...

congrats you are one up on me...i never attended a mixed gas course.

in school and ops, i only swam the twin 90s and O2 rebreathers... affectionately known as death rigs.

in my waning years, i prefer a single bottle and 20-50' of H2O...and i ain't talking cocktails here.
