Jacob,

A couple comments.

4. this war is being waged in our homeland.

This fight against terrorists and terrorism is being waged globally with all civilized nations participating be they Islamic, Christian, Atheist or agnostic. The gulf war was primarily a US thing with token support from NATO and some UN members.

3. this war is likely to go on and on, with no decisive final victory (in 1990, stocks soared as soon as the guns stopped firing, as the magnitude of the victory became apparent).

I fully agree that no decisive final victory will be reported by CNN in living colour and in real time. However, every terrorist action going forward will rapidly lead to the cell, its financing, its chain of command, etc. being identified and eliminated. It would not surprise me if the greatest damage that terrorists inflict, going forward, will ultimately prove to be on themselves and their organization.

And I further suspect that much of the action will be covert with the general public never learning precisely what was done. So, yes, I expect a decisive final victory. It just won't be announced on CNN.

IMO,
Ian
