OT - DSL vs Wireless, Cable

Of course, right now dial up modem is obsolete, but it works just about everywhere. What I'm really looking for is a connection that isn't taxed all to hell-Looking at my phone bill, it seems like half of it is for some kind of fee for this, tax for that. DSL requires a phone line. Of course, once something else gets popular and widespread, politicians will tag new taxes onto it.
