Method for indicating a multi-slot channel in a TDMA radio system

Abstract
The invention relates to a method for indicating a multi-slot channel in signalling received over a radio terminal in a TDMA radio system without increasing the amount of signalling compared to normal signalling used for assigning one slot to the channel and for defining the channel in other respects. In the inventive method, an element describing the channel of a normal signalling message is transformed into a code, which identifies the channel as a multi-slot channel and sets the number of successive slots to be included in the multi-slot channel. The element indicating the normal timeslot for the channel is used to indicate the first timeslot to be included in the multi-slot channel. In the GSM system, the preferred embodiment of the method replaces the 5-bit element (CHT) of a channel description information element defining the channel type and the subchannel with a code, whose two first bits (bit values 1 and 1) identify the channel as a multi-slot channel, and three remaining bits set the number of timeslots. The first timeslot is indicated with the element (TN) indicating the timeslot number.

Well, Puck, I saw the insults before you deleted them. So you have an evil twin, too? Feel better now that you have vented?

Kindly ignore me if you think I'm an addled-brained fool, as you posted. No one forces you to read or like what I write. Your remedy is just a click away.

I don't see that you contribute much, Puck, except the stray bit of news here and there. Leads me to suspect that though you are long on insults, you are short on substance.

I'm ignorant about a lot of telecom issues, and I'll be the first to admit it. That's the reason I ask questions and dig about. This board is a good source because it is more or less a place for devil's advocates, like Eric L and Illmarinen, who I know feel the same way about me that you do. The difference, Puck, is that those two are genuinely knowledgeable and are generous in sharing their knowledge, though there is friction in the process. Despite your exaggerated sense of self-importance, you are as valuable as tits on a boar.

If you read my posts, you'll know that I'm not a Nokia shareholder. So your comment about me not being smart enough, or whatever, to be a Nokia shareholder is reflective of your ignorance.

The information on the EUR $3.6bn in 3G loan commitments is straight out of the Nokia 2000 20-F as is the information about the three biggest companies to which the commitments are made being European. They are Hutchison UK (which doesn't have a network at all, as far I know), Orange, and another German company whose name I forgot. Nokia clearly describes the substantial risks involved in financing networks.

I suggest you read it carefully. Here's the link, read p. 12 and the section on Nokia Networks.

I hate to do this, Puck, because I like peace, tranquility, and reasonable discussions as much as the next person.
