gst, i'm with you. it seems like the place to be. i'm also pleased we haven't turned into terrorists as a knee jerk reaction. i think we are methodically going through a process that will attempt to reduce the cancer w/o killing the patient. at least i hope so.

i had a discussion on the cfz thread and b/c i didn't hate all arabs and suggested the palestinians had land forcefully taken from them, i was called anti jew and pro terrorist (even though i said israel should continue to exist based on the same principle so-cal should still belong to the US even though we really stole it from mexico). unbelievable! an honest discussion of the facts is no longer tolerated in many circles. you have to pick a side and carry the side's line, no matter how silly, or you are a card carrying member of the *other* side.

the tendency to polarize instead of understand is not good for america, imho.

>> Skeet: I want to make it clear that I am pleased with the handling of this crisis so far -- I think that cooler heads HAVE prevailed by and large and if I was polled I would give Bush high marks for his performance under the most difficult circumstances. <<

yes, i am heartened by the change in tone over the last few days. notice how everyone is talking about thoughtful and measured response and building coalitions and there is not so much war-mongering going on. far different than right after 09/11 when people were talking as if we were going to bomb afghanistan, topple the taliban, and nuke iraq all in the same week.
