Seems to me that craig is getting the troops ready for some serious shedding if things dont improve.

20,000 emplyees would translate into savings of $1bn/yr - assuming a $50K/emplyee cost number.

As he stated in the memo - no-one know when turnaround will occur.

If by early next years things are cool.

If not and no turnaround signs bloodletting will occur.
If this happens Intel will not be the only company shedding.

Unfortunately this will be pretty awfull for the economy short term.

It wont be so bad for the surviving companies.
