We already saw that when wireless handsets were introduced. Being able to see the person on the other end of the line (streaming video) and being able to cruise the web or the home office network on a little tiny screen is just not going to do it. LMDS was supposed to do some of what 3G is purported to do and with a lot more bandwidth for data and it appears to be still born right now.

AMAT will benefit from the move from the 6 inch to 12 inch wafers, but the article fails to mention NVLS which is pioneering the migration to copper interconnects which will increase the density on those wafers. Both technologies are necessary to product more cores per wafer and therefore better margins per wafer.
