I found most of that piece wrong, simplistic and self-guided, especially at its end, when I noted its source. However, the final two paragraphs I agree with completely, and let that message resonate around the earth: we now have an historic opportunity to make a new leap into the future. However, this will not be possible until Europe and Asia stop bickering and become leaders in their own right. I fear the Organization of American States will take longer, and then perhaps the Arab League shall by default fall in step with the rest of the modern world. Perhaps that will involve the United Nations resolving the Israel-Palestine question by decree and force if need be. It is now time for this. It is patentedly obvious. Jerusalem must be declared an open city and occupied and governed by the United Nations. Finita la commedia! It has been more than enough now. We must move forward.

After this time has passed and the world has matured, it shall be these four regions that must spread this new prosperity and peace to Africa. None of our brothers and sisters deserve to be left behind.

The words are thoughtful, I find, and I am overjoyed to see them coming from China:

If a world consensus forms around the fading-out of US hegemony and the US gracefully accepts this as a fait accompli, it should devote itself to leading the world towards establishing a new order that is more just, more rational, more democratic and more beneficial to world peace and sustainable development. The US would then be in the unique position of being the world's last hegemonist and the hegemonist that eradicates all future hegemonies.

The US might have had an opportunity to establish a brave new world some 10 years ago, after the end of the Cold War. Lacking the necessary intellectual horizon, America blew that opportunity under the leadership of George Bush, father of the current President. But now providence has put another opportunity in the hands of his son, and what happens from now on will depend on the wisdom of US citizens and their leaders.
