The question is why is Islam a nest of terrorism and intolerance? Is there an Islamic democracy? Maybe the answer to my first question is the result of the second. I do not believe the fundamentalists are a true reflection of Islam. But they are bred because of the disparities inside Islam. They blame and hate the west because our freedom, liberties and democracies endanger them. Citing Lebannon, that country used to be the "Switzerland" of the Middle East until the war reduced it to ashes. Why? Because many muslims of the area would go to Beirut to enjoy Western lifestyle and believe me they ENJOYED it. It scared the hell out of Islam and Syria and Iran made it a battle field and the first nest of Terrorism in the 80's. Hizbolla was born and gave a good example to Bin Laden. Lebannon was used as a base for "basic terrorist training" and live missions were accomplished. Hundreds of US Soldiers were killed there,[remember?], with no or little response from the USA. It was a good start for them, and certainly the embryo which let to the WTC attack.
