George, you're pathetic.

(Just three words, much more concise than your post).

If we spent a fifth of that each year in spreading pure humanitarian aid (including education and a PC, why not?) to all the masses of the world (let's start at Afganistan and the Middle Eas and Africa) this world would be a much happier place.

First of all the US DOES spend more on humanitarian aid then any other country in the world. What was it? 30 million to afghanistan this year? To the taliban.

That worked good didn`t it?
In return for this aid the Taliban aided bin laden who spreads terror all over the world. Bin ladin had 50 camps training terrorists to kill Americans.

Education? The taliban outlaws education for women.
PC`s? Don`t hook it up to the internet or risk having your throat cut.

Sometimes there is no other way than the use of force.

Let me ask you a question.

What would haveto be done? What type of attack on the US before you would use military force to defend it?

If we spent a fifth of that each year in spreading pure humanitarian aid ........this world would be a much happier place.

Hey George?? It's called a trade deficit.... We buy more from the rest of the world than we sell to them.

By opening up our markets to the world, we fulfill the policy of, "If you give a person a fish, you feed them for a day. If you teach them how to fish, you feed them for a lifetime."

US economic strategy not only endorses "teaching people how to fish", but provides large amounts of "fish" while providing the training...

The US is the largest financial contributor to Afghani aid relief efforts and HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS. We're constantly at the top of foreign aid total amounts given.

And as I stated above, by making our markets available to one and all around the world, we give folks a place to sell their excess "fish".

So it's all well and good that you can provide a sense of history as to US military involvement around the world...

Now why don't you take the time and research all of the humanitarian missions that US military forces are involved in (building roads, schools, sanitation infrastructure)???

We do them EVERY YEAR George... All over the world the US has been engaged in "nation building" projects. And there has been considerable controversy within the military command structure about whether this reduces readiness, or enhances it.

In fact, I served as an interpreter on one of them in Central America, and I can personally tell you that the people LOVED HAVING US DOWN THERE... Their own government was unwilling to spend money on them because they votes were so "insignificant", they had no power, used outhouses, buried their garbage all over the place in burn holes, and they used rain water collected in cisterns.

We came in an built them a school and sanitary facilities, all on Uncle Sugar's tab... and used building materials (subgrade as they were) from the local economy as well..

You have a VERY myopic view of the role the US has played in the world. Maybe you need to get out from behind your computer and actually get out there in the "real world" for awhile.

Get out there and SEE the evil and corruption that the rest of the world embodies... And then you'll wonder why the US hasn't come in and straightened things out, like the imperialist you claim we are.
