You could have been describing the US, elmat.

Granolas in California, liberals in the East Coast, right-wingers in the South and Texas, and mostly reasonable people in the Midwest plus a more or less Scandinavian/German ethic in the upper Midwest. Naturally, this is a gross generalization.

We could easily split into different countries.

For instance... where do Germans vacation?? Nordsee??? I don't think so, it's another country. We have the opportunity to be more insular than many. Doesn't mean its right.
