Palomino performance is very easy to "guess", since there are plenty of AthlonMP benchmarks. Without actually digging any up, I can tell you that the 1.2GHz AthlonMP did beat the 1.4GHz Thunderbird in a number of applications - sometimes quite handily. Overall, however, the picture was a bit more muddled. Is 20% a reasonable overall figure? I don't know. Personally, I would probably have said 10% or 15%, but it does vary a lot. Remember, Palomino incorporates not only hardware prefetching, but also full SSE support.
