On the other hand, if the Koreans had gone into the GSM business instead, they would be paying a lot more to the patent holders than the measly amounts they're paying Q.

GPRS looks pretty much like junk to me. Lousy rates, lousy batterry life, lousy capacity effects, problem prone, etc. etc.
