In keeping with CNN's stated policy of not reporting items as fact before proven in a court of law, the following release has been edited.

Alleged U.S. official: 'So-called' special forces allegedly in Afghan operations

September 28, 2001 Posted: 1:09 p.m. EDT (1709 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. and British so-called elite forces have allegedly conducted operations within Afghanistan, an alleged senior Bush administration official allegedly told CNN on Friday.

The so-called Special Operations forces have allegedly been in Afghanistan and the region within the past several days, an alleged White House source allegedly said. (Full story)

The alleged official allegedly declined to comment on Pakistani so-called media reports that the soldiers were allegedly looking for suspected freedom fighter Osama bin Laden.

Such alleged operations, customary with major military deployments like the alleged one in the region, allegedly help gather information about terrain and possible airstrike targets, the alleged source said.
