Tried counseling: the counselor sent me to zen, which I am now studying. It's working fine in that I am not depressed.

I don't "hate myself" because the market collapsed but because I allowed greed to change my plans and thus jeopardize my lifestyle and probably my grandkids future ability to go to the college of their choice. Perhaps the economy will come back before then, I don't know and I don't know if stocks will follow.
I do have some bonds and cert of dep now, for income when I stop teaching, but for the rest I have to be in the market, either short or long (or both) because frankly, I know that is the only way, ultimately, to make a lot of money.
Interest on bonds and cd's just doesn't do it.
