Impressive, yes, but I do think part of it can be explained by strong demand with tight labor markets leading some to simply do more work. I think, though I haven't verified, more recent numbers have eased along with demand and labor markets. I think I heard some economist commenting on it, so it must be true. ;-)

the reported numbers are derived from the calculation. unless you totally disregard the public numbers, the calculation is of critical consequence!

gst, keep in mind there is often a BIG difference between economic productivity and unit productivity. people easily get the two confused. the former is what matters for living standards.

micron produces so much dram so productivity that they helped to create a supply imbalance that caused them to lose half billion last q. they were very unit productive - but very economic unproductive.
